Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
